ABOUT OUR SCHOOL COUNCIL
Gylemuir School Board was formed in November 1998 in accordance with the School Boards (Scotland) Act 1988.
The membership of our School Council comprises 9 parents, 2 school staff members and 2 co-opted members representing the local and business communities.
School Councils perfrom a variety of different functions, some of which are required by the School Boards (Scotland) Act and some of which are in conjunction with our PTA.
We meet about 5 times each school year and discuss any matters relating to our remit. Some recent items which have been discussed include how to involve more parents in the life of the school by setting up a parent forum, arrangements for liaison with secondary schools and road safety in the local area. An open meeting was also held to give parents an opportunity to see the new assessment procedures being used in school.
